Firefighter Prevention Day at Chester Charter Scholars Academy (Oct. 22 2025)

On October 22, I had the honor of visiting the kindergarten classrooms at Chester Charter Scholars Academy for their Fire Prevention Day.

Each class joined me for a special reading of my children’s book, Girls Can Be Firefighters Too, followed by some hands-on fun learning a few firefighter basics. The students tried on real gear, learned how firefighters stay safe, and discovered that they can be brave, strong, and helpful in their own ways... just like firefighters.

Moments like these remind me why I wrote this book, to spark confidence early and show our little ones that courage comes in all colors, hairstyles, and sizes. And it's a pretty cool career too.
